Moving Out of Harms Way
“Moving Out of Harm’s Way: Strategies for Community Relocation” was commissioned by Boonslick Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) to help residents, elected officials, grant writers, planning commissions, charitable organizations, or individuals recover a town from a disaster. This 24-page booklet documents the story of three towns and communities that had been relocated due to the impact of floods as well as the processes involved for handling crisis aftermath. The project required photo research with the client and careful organization of information to give an accurate timeline and overview of the process. Although this booklet focuses on flood disasters, much of the recovery experience here can be applied to other catastrophes as well.
